About Us
Torel Boutiques is also the story of three people whose paths crossed in Lisbon when everyone decided to change their lives: João Pedro Tavares, Barbara Ott and Ingrid Koeck.
Torel Boutiques was born from the passion for people and the inspiration to create something new.
In 2013, João Pedro Tavares left his career of more than 20 years in banking and decided to start a new project. He rented an abandoned mansion, located on top of the Sant'Ana hill, in the heart of Lisbon, and turned it into a Bed & Breakfast.
On December 23, 2013, Torel Palace Lisbon opened its doors, offering a welcoming and refined place, with only eleven rooms.
In early 2014, Barbara Ott, from Austria, visited Torel Palace Lisbon as a guest and was surprised by the charming palace, and by Lisbon. After a few months of reflection, she decided to leave Austria and settle in Portugal - and become a partner at Torel Palace Lisbon. Together, João and Barbara renovated the building next door, which in spring 2015 became part of Torel Palace Lisbon.
In the autumn of the same year, Ingrid Koeck, from Austria, who wanted to open a Bed & Breakfast in Portugal, entered the bar at Torel Palace Lisbon, where she crossed paths with Barbara. It was only a matter of time until she became the third partner of a small project that became a hotel business, which is slowly growing, always marked by the passion for contact with people, dedication to service, individualized treatment and, of course, the joy of to live.
