Mário de Sá-Carneiro
Mário de Sá-Carneiro (1890-1916) was a poet and writer of fiction. Together with Fernando Pessoa and Almada Negreiros, Mário de Sá-Carneiro is one of the main representatives of Portuguese Modernism. His suicide, at the age of 26, seems to seal the feeling of inadequacy in life, of permanent incompleteness, narcissistic self-degradation and, above all, of a painful awareness of the irremediable split of the self, embodied in the dramatic tension between a vile and prosaic self, and another, his ideal double, which thematically fed his work.
One of his best-known works is Céu em Fogo
